Diet, Diet, Diet, Exercise

Okay people. I just want to throw in a few words about diet. Unfortunately for us all, including myself, in order to see results it does not matter if you run a marathon, you will NOT see results in the mirror if you're being sloppy with your diet.

I'm not gonna lie, lately I've been eating homemade oatmeal cookies and haven't been packing my lunches like I should, so I end up eating the indulgent cafeteria food at my job. Oh and it's tasty alright. And fairly healthy. But it's NOT PLANNED, and at the end of the day I'm consuming way more calories than I intended.

I took some "before" pictures of myself today for a 9-week challenge I'm doing with my cousins and it was really eye opening for me! I have a ways to go!!!

I know I'm not the only one going through this sort of thing, I'm pretty sure diet is one of the absolute most difficult things to manage when trying to get in shape, tone your muscles, and lose extra flab. But it MUST BE DONE right or all your exercising and busting your butt will go to waste. Now don't get me wrong, you still get wonderful benefits from exercise even if you're not eating well, but I'm talking about if you want to see real results in the mirror, you've got to put in your dues with the diet. Fat loss is 70% diet 30% exercise.

If you want abs like these you've gotta put in the self-discipline during meal-time!

When I say "diet" I'm not talking about a strict plan you will only follow for a limited time. I'm talking about eating healthy for life. That means being able to have sweet treats and salty indulgences sparingly, like once a week, and eating healthy planned meals for the rest of the week. It also means eating small portions several times a day so that you don't starve, but you also don't overeat.

Your diet should include lots of vegetables and lots of fruit, along with whole products like low-fat dairy, whole grains, lean meants and complex carbs. This is what I strive to do every single day.

I'm committing right now to be more mindful about my next meal, and to not let my gym efforts go to waste on a haphazard diet. Who's ready to get real results?

Q: What does your eating plan look like?
