Bring on the Holidays!

       
"Well guys it’s the 1st of November and officially the 'Weight gain season begins'. The next two months unfortunately brings you ample opportunity to indulge and expand that waistline, but only if you allow it and are unprepared. Don’t wait for the New Year to start a new routine, join a gym or get the diet in check. NOW is the time to plan, once the craziness of the next two months begins, you'll be too busy to put a plan into action. Enter the year 2012 in better shape than you are today and start on track, motivated, healthier and more determined than ever before. I don't know about you guys, but I'm totally on board with this guy's advice!! I'm not going to get fat this season, No!! I'm working towards those abs for the new year!! That's my goal for 2012 if nothing else so far. I want abs. My action plan is this: workout AT LEAST 150 mins a week if not more (That's 30 mins a day 5 days a week.). Eat 1600 calories a day with proper intake of nutrients & clean eating. Here's a guideline I'm following for my food intake.

I've been taking a nutrition class this semester at BYU and trust me, this is the way to eat people!! If you want to follow these same guidelines with me, you can click on this link to find the chart that will give you a list of caloric goals, click on your calorie target intake goal and get your food guidelines for your caloric goal! I realize that there are so many diets and ways of eating out there, that you're probably thinking "why follow this dumb guideline chart?" I just want to say that this chart is not a diet or fad. It's simply a chart of how much of each food group you should be eating within whatever calorie range you choose, in order to BE HEALTHY!! Now who doesn't want to be healthy? I'm telling you peeps, the fitness world is driven by EXTREMES these days- people wanting to pound in the protein, or scrap the carbs, or whatever. But I'm here to burst your bubble and tell you it's all about BALANCE. And eating your freaking fruits and veggies already! ;-)  

Don't get me wrong I'm not a holiday food scrooge. Enjoy your sweets, meats, fats, and whatever else you're looking forward to this holiday season, but do it in moderation. I like to follow this guideline that Zuzana from Bodyrock.TV gave in the short video below. If you don't watch the video, her basic advice is- take ONE bite, then save it for later, or give it away or share a plate. Anything but stuff your face. 

I'm so excited for this holiday season!! I love this time of year, and I'm welcoming it with open arms!!
